Wang goes global

After shooting to fame with the hit TV drama Nirvana in Fire (《琅琊榜》), Wang Kai, the 34-year-old Chinese actor, has made it to the big screen. He stars in thriller The Devotion of Suspect X (2017), based on Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s award-wining novel of the same name. In the film, Wang plays a professor assisting in a murder investigation (调查), only to find that a longtime rival and friend from his university days may be involved. “I have always wanted to play a person with high intelligence (智商) or a complex mind,” Wang told people.com.cn. “This character possesses (拥有) both.” The movie, which was released in China on March 31, is also being shown in Australia, New Zealand, North America, Singapore and the United Kingdom, says its production company Enlight Media.
