Mary Lennox is a thin little girl. She was born into a rich English family in India. Her parents died when she was 10. She has to live with Mr Craven, an uncle she has never met before, in England. Mr Craven has many gardens. One of them is locked up (锁起来) because his wife died there. Mary finds the garden and it becomes a special place for her. There, she takes care of the lifeless flowers and makes it a paradise (天堂). She makes new friends, too. Because of this, she becomes happier.
