Wang finishes gaokao

A singing career shouldn’t hamper (阻挡) one’s education. On June 7, Wang Junkai, a singer from popular Chinese boy band TFBoys, was taking the college entrance examination in China, known as gaokao, with 9.4 million other students. In order to focus on the exam, Wang retreated from his singing career. Attention for him did not drop, however. Before the exam, there were more than 1 million posts with the hashtag “Good luck to Wang Junkai Gaokao 2017” from fans on Sina Weibo. US media outlet CNN compares Wang Junkai to Justin Bieber. Although both are very popular in their countries, unlike Bieber’s bad boy image, Wang is seen as a healthy and positive young idol who sets good examples for his fans.
