Sometimes I don't mind a little staring
BECAUSE we are both teachers, my wife and I have been fortunate to spend our summers travelling. We have visited many countries and now China.
One of the most fascinating things about travelling is observing the various cultural and social practices of different countries. What is considered extremely rude in one country can be considered perfectly normal in another country - and vice versa. One example is curiosity. Almost all people are curious about things they haven't seen before. However, the Chinese are unique when it come to curiosity: They love to stare. In every other country we've visited, staring is considered rude. It is considered an invasion of privacy. In China, however, it is considered perfectly acceptable.
