This covers activities such as the reading skills necessary to understand academic papers, taking notes, writing summaries, writing essays and so on. EPP stands for English for Professional Purposes, such as English for workers in the tourist industry, English for computer programmers and so on. L1 is the students' native language. L2 is the language which the students are learning. Input is the language which students are exposed to in class. This can be via presentations, reading passages, listenings and so on. Output is the language which students produce during the class, through speaking or writing. PPP is the standard presentation technique, namely,Presentation, Practice, Production. SLA Second Language Acquistion, the general term for learning a second language, used mostly in theoretical and academic articles and books. STT Student Talking Time . Teachers with good classroom management skills make sure that class activities are always designed to maximize STT. TPR Total Physical Response. An ELT method that involves getting students to respond physically to the language before they produce the language orally. |  |
