We need cheap but good food
Speaking of school food, no student would expect classy meals cooked by five-star chefs. What students do want though, is good food at a reasonable price. But when I look at school cafeteria lunches, I find that they are so-so at best. One of the worst things a cook can do is prepare tasteless food. “The food tastes fake,” said Nerso Gilian of El Camino High School in the US. “Like it’s all heat-and-serve.” No matter the school grade, no student wants microwave-cooked food in place of a healthy meal. That’s why Gilian gets lunch at restaurants, even though the cost is higher than lunch at school. But the economy is teaching us a course in money responsibility. It hurts a little more to pay $5 for a meal every school day.
Unlike in El Camino, flavor isn’t a problem at Jesuit High School. But to keep a group of boys full is a challenge. Sam Hilder usually eats two sandwiches, two bags of chips, cookies, fruit and candy. Buying all that food in the school canteen is expensive. Some boys have to buy cheaper food from school clubs. If only schools could offer meals that were both delicious and cheap. Then school cafeterias would be much more popular.
D1 1-4 BACC
3. C。由文中第五段的“High school seniors no longer want to graduate with a regular yearbook picture. … they want the rest of their photos to reflect their true personalities.”以及倒数第三段的“You see these incredible photos everywhere on the internet, and you want something really unique and different from everyone else”可知答案为C。
4. C。由文中第五段的“High school seniors no longer want to graduate with a regular yearbook picture. … they want the rest of their photos to reflect their true personalities.”以及最后一段的“they want something that will authentically show them and still stand out ” 可知C为正确答案,D项不对。
从第一段提到上头条的新闻有真有假,再结合第二段的“But this was only one of many cases in which people have fallen for inaccurate information.”,还有后文主要都在分析人们为什么容易相信假新闻可知,本题正确答案为D项—引出文章核心话题。
2. A。 从第三段的“Rapp found that when people see a piece of news, they tend to quickly “download” the information into their memory because it’s easier than checking it first.” B项有迷惑性,但是结合第三段的“Rapp found that when people see a piece of news, they tend to quickly “download” the information into their memory because it’s easier than checking it first.”
