D5 听力原文

Text 1

M: What kind of dress are you looking for?

W: Since it gets warmer this time of year, I want something lightweight. What do you think would be the best?

Text2

M: The flight won’t take off until 5:00.

W: I’m just wondering how we’re going to kill three hours.

Text3

W: The school fees keep rising. I’m afraid I won’t be able to stay here next year.

M: You speak Italian so well. Why don’t you teach students Italian?

W: Good idea.

Text 4

W: Can you give me a ride on your way home?

M: I’m afraid I can’t. I haven’t finished the report about the supermarkets I visited last month.

W: Well, you shouldn’t work so hard. You can finish it tomorrow.

Text 5

W: What do you think of the plan to build a power station in our village?

M: It will ruin the village. And in any case, I don’t think it’s necessary.

W: I couldn’t agree more.

Text 6.

W: We can’t go outside because of the rain, and there’s nothing to do around the house.

M: Would you like to play cards? It’s still too early to sleep, after all.

W: OK. I used to play cards a lot when my sister and I visited our grandmother’s house.

M: I bet your grandmother would let you win.

W: I played with my sister. My grandmother would watch us play - when she wasn’t busy, that is.

M: Really? Why not?

W: She said she never learned how to play.

Text 7

W: How do you like it? Isn’t it a nice car?

M: Yes, I do like the car. It’s a little old but it isn’t ugly like in the photo.

W: Let’s see what we can do, then. It’s only $3,500.

M: I’ll buy it if you can take at least $500 off the asking price.

W: I don’t think I can do that.

M: Then how much will you be able to take off?

W: The best I can do is to give you $300 off the price. If that’s OK, we’ll check the engine again and make sure everything is all right before the car leaves.

M: Do you think I can have the car today?

W: As soon as you sign this paper, the car is yours.

M: OK, I’ll take it.

Text 8

M: Good morning. Can I see your membership card, please?

W: Well, I am actually here to join the book club today.

M: I’m really sorry. There’s something wrong with the computer. If you can come back on Monday - that’s tomorrow - we can sign you up then. And we have discount on Mondays and Tuesdays.

W: Oh, but I have to see the dentist tomorrow, and I have a meeting to attend on Tuesday.

M: In that case, you can leave your information on this piece of paper and I’ll put your application into the computer tomorrow.

W: Oh, that’s wonderful!

M: Which membership would you like: a one-year membership, a three-year membership, or a lifetime membership? There’s a special gift for the lifetime membership.

W: Let me see. I think a one-year membership is right for me.

Text 9

M: Hi, I’m your new neighbor Dan. I’m going around the neighborhood introducing myself.

W: It’s nice to meet you. I’m Julia, and this is Sam, my son. He’s two years old.

M: It’s nice to meet you, Sam. What do you do, Julia?

W: I own my own baking company and work from home.

M: No wonder this place smells so good! Is that cake?

W: I’m baking bread at the moment. I sell what I make to different bakeries and stores downtown. I have an online store. What do you do?

M: Well, I just got a new job. That’s why I moved here. I start as the head librarian at the Springfield Library on Monday.

W: How wonderful! Sam and I often go to that library. He loves to pick out books.

M: Great! Hopefully, I’ll see you two there sometime.

W: Yes, I’m sure you will. I can bring you some fresh pies later this evening if you want.

M: That would be great. Nice meeting you. Have a great afternoon!

Text 10

Spike Aerospace is a company based in Boston, Massachusetts. It makes aircraft that are like something out of a science fiction novel. The company says that its S-512 Supersonic Business Jet can fly from New York to London in just 3 hours. The private jet can reach a maximum speed of 1,370 miles per hour, which is 1.8 times faster than the speed of sound. Now, passengers might be able to fly all over the world for a simple day trip and still be back home by bedtime. Although it was first introduced in a 2013 research paper, the jet has gone through some important changes that have made its actual production possible. The newly designed “delta” wings are how the jet is able to travel so fast, as their shape makes the jet lighter and better able to cut through pockets of warm air. The inside of the jet is called the “Multiplex Cabin”, and instead of windows for passengers to look out of, small cameras show images on thin screen on the wall. This means you can watch whatever you want, whenever you want. However, not anyone will be able to fly on the S-512 because it will likely cost around $80 million. Spike Aerospace hopes to start offering its private jet for sale in December 2018.
