D2 1-4 CCBD

D4 1-4 BDDC
D5 I. FTFTT II. BCA
解析
D1 1-4 ABBD
1. A。 During the 20th century, Ringling managed to survive可知D选项错误。
And yet, Anne proves that she can actually be very useful.
D3 1-3 DCD
1. D. 根据She ran on a treadmill so the team could film her shoes to catch the details可知D正确。根据They found that shoelace knot failure happens in a matter of seconds, thanks to a complex interaction of forces可知C项错误。 Oliver O’Reilly, a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of California Berkeley, US, began trying to solve this mystery after noticing that his young daughter could never keep her shoelaces tied不符。 With the help of two of his graduate students, O’Reilly ran real-world experiments in search of a reasonable explanation不符。
2. C. 根据Finally, the knot reaches a point where the acceleration wins over the friction, and it comes undone all at once可知C项正确。
3. D. 根据Next, they built a pendulum machine, added weights to the ends of laces, and swung the knots back and forth. As expected, knots failed more often with heavier weights, because the inertial forces were greater可知D项正确。
D4 1-4 BDDC
1. B。根据文章第一段“I didn't really mind the work, but I wanted something more challenging”可知A项错误,B项正确。
2. D。根据文章第2、3段和“everything about my position changed”,“I knew jumping out of the nest was the right thing for me”两句话可知,作者在进入新的公司后自己的工作发生了很大变化,由于这些变化,自己不得不跳出“舒适圈”,因此可知D为正确答案。

It’s time to pack your bags and get ready to go on a summer holiday! Ever wondered what Europeans do for their holiday? Maybe travel to other countries, visit friends and family? Well, they do all of these.
It's time for sunshine and cool drinks.
Most people in Europe get about three or four weeks of holiday time a year. Lots of people choose to go away when it's warmer in the summer.
In Sweden, many companies close down for the whole of July and nearly everyone takes their holiday then. It's common for many Swedish families to go and stay in their second home, often in a forest or by the sea. Italians like to go to the coast or walk in the hills and eat special food.
Some British people go to the seaside when the weather is good. The Queen's birthday is really in April but she celebrates it in June when the weather is better. British people often like to go abroad to places like Spain or France.
Europeans often travel abroad for their holiday now because it's cheap. The EU also makes it easy for Europeans to travel. Most people there don't need a passport to travel inside Europe.
Lots of Europeans like to buy “package holidays”. This means they can get their flight, hotel and even food for a very cheap price. Lots of families also like to go camping too.
Do you use hand gestures when you talk? Do you open your mouth and eyes wide when you are surprised? These are all examples of body language. How important can it be? Follow Teens and have a look.
Your mother asks: “How did your exam go, sweety?” “Really well!” You say, excitedly giving a “V” sign with your right hand. The gesture shows you did well in the exam.
Body language does not use words. It uses the movement or position of your body to show certain meanings.
According to American scientist Edward T. Hall, in a conversation between two people, 65 percent of communication is body language. In some cases, you even express yourself without words. For example, your friend asks you to join him on a picnic; you give him an “A-OK” gesture to say: “Yes, sounds great!” Sometimes, your words say one thing, but your body language says another. You may do things without noticing it, like touch your face while telling a lie.
In different cultures, the same body language means different things. In the US, making eye contact with someone means you are interested in what the person is saying. While in some Asian countries, it is rude to look into a person’s eyes during a conversation.
Sometimes, different body language expresses the same meaning. Take “hello” for example. French people kiss cheeks to say hello. Japanese people bow. Maoris in New Zealand, however, touch noses in greeting.
Body language is important for teenagers. Understanding this language helps you to communicate better with others.
