2020-21学年TEENS高一第38期总第830期 III 版听力原文

Text 1
M: It’s strange being back in school.
W: What do you mean?
M: I think it’s tough to get used to studying, meeting new people and living independently again after being on vacation for so long.

Text 2
W: It’s such a large park.
M: Yeah, it’s the largest park in the city. It was rebuilt last year.
W: Where do we buy tickets to get in?
M: Oh, over there.

Text 3
M: Bob looks like he just won a million dollars.
W: He had a job interview last week, and he just heard that he got the job at the company RBC.
M: That’s really good news.

Text 4
W: Tom, do you work out here every day?
M: No, just on weekends. I’m busy with my work on weekdays.
W: What is your routine like?
M: I usually run on the running machine for an hour. Then I lift weights for about 20 minutes. After that, I go swimming.

Text 5
M: Hello. What can I do for you?
W: I want to rent a car. How much is it?
M: It costs $30 a day and $200 dollars a week. How long do you want to keep it?
W: Five days.

Text 6
W: Hello. Is this reception?
M: Yes, madam. What can I do for you?
W: This is Mrs Black in room 305. I sent some clothes to the laundry this morning: two of my husband’s shirts and three of my blouses. They are not back yet, and we’re leaving early tomorrow morning.
M: Just a moment, madam. I’ll phone the housekeeper to find out what happened and will call you back later.
W: All right. Please be quick. Thank you.

Text 7
M: Hello! I’d like to congratulate you on your wonderful performance.
W: Thank you very much.
M: You played the piano so beautifully. What are your plans for the future?
W: I’m going to give 100 more concerts. Fortunately, people want to come to hear me play.
M: Why do you have to work so hard?
W: I’m planning to start a school, so I’m trying to save as much money as possible.
M: What kind of school?
W: A music school for disabled children. I think they have the right to receive an education just like other children. However, at the moment there are very few such schools in my country, and it will cost a lot of money.
M: I think a lot of people will support you, and I’m sure your wish will come true.

Text 8
W: I can’t decide whether to go to university or get a job. What do you think?
M: Well, if I were you, Mary, I’d go to school.
W: But I don’t even know what to study.
M: If I had the chance again, I’d study computer science. I know you’re good at science subjects.
W: That’s also what my parents want me to learn.
M: You should take their advice. They know what is best for you.
W: But my friends will have jobs and lots of fun while I spend all my time studying.
M: If you go to university, you’ll still have time for fun.
W: What you say makes sense. But, you know, I will still have to ask my parents for pocket money, and I hate to do so at this age.
M: If you find a part-time job, you will have your own money.
W: You’re right. Thank you for your advice.

Text 9
M: I don’t really know what to do this summer. I can’t afford to just sit around all day. But there seems to be no suitable job available.
W: Why don’t you try house-sitting? Last summer, my classmate Jane house-sat for the Smiths when they went away on vacation.
M: House-sitting? What did she do?
W: Mr Smith hired Jane to stay in their house because he didn’t want it left empty.
M: You mean the Smiths paid someone just to live in their house?
W: It wasn’t that easy. She had to water the plants and take care of the pets.
M: House-sitting sounds like a good job. I guess it’s a little like babysitting, except that you are taking care of a house instead of kids.
W: That’s it! The student employment office still has two such jobs posted. I called about it this morning.
M: Do I just have to fill out an application form?
W: You also have to interview with the house owners.
M: That seems like a lot of trouble for a summer job.
