M: As someone who has always liked Chinese food in America, I got the chance to learn more about Chinese food and dining culture when I moved to China. When I had only been in China for a short while, I saw an entire fish just staring at me from a plate for the first time. And later, I tried a plate of chicken feet, which we don't eat in the US. Now, I have tried many different Chinese dishes. Unlike eating separately in the US, eating in China is a social event. It's common for a group of people to sit around the table and enjoy food together. Hot pot is great for those who are truly curious about exploring new foods. I love hot pot because I can make my own sauce, pick out everything and choose what I will cook in it. My favorites are different meatballs and mushrooms, but I do love to try different things. For the most part, I order food through an app. When I first started doing this, I largely had to go by just the pictures. And of course, I have made mistakes. I also enjoy lamb baozi and sijidou, along with too many other dishes to name. It seems like there is always something new to try, something yet to be discovered.
