Read the following passage aloud. You will have one minute to prepare and 30 seconds to read.

 

The problem with bad habits is that they are easy to start but difficult to break. The key is to replace bad habits with good ones. Good habits can be hard to start but once you get going it’s like riding a bike. Each small push of the pedals carries you forward. You just have to work at it one day at a time. Creating good habits is the best way to stay happy and healthy in life.

Answer the following questions:

1. Why is it important to develop good habits?

Developing good habits will enable you to live a happier and healthier life. They help you use your time more wisely and help you achieve your goals.
2. What are good study habits?

One good habit is to remove distractions around you. It is difficult to study when you keep doing other things at the same time, like checking your phone or talking to your family or friends. Another good habit is to take study breaks often to rest your eyes and mind. A 10-minute break should be enough.
3. Have you been successful in getting rid of a bad habit?

I used to want to eat sweet things every day. But as I got older I realized it was affecting my health. So I made sure to not buy sweet things when I went to the supermarket. That way, when I craved them at home, I couldn't find them. After a while of doing this, I didn't want to eat things that are too sweet anymore.
4. How can we get rid of bad habits?

Bad habits won't go away by themselves, so we need to take action and have a plan in place. For many, this involves replacing bad habits with good habits. For example, you can replace the time spent playing on your phone with skipping outside.
5. How can we form good habits?

Just like getting rid of a bad habit, forming a good habit requires a good plan. Repetition is key to making the habit become a natural part of your life. You could also choose to tell some family and friends about your plan, so they can support and encourage you. It will help make you feel more accountable and responsible for your actions.

 

 

Task 3

 

You will have one minute to prepare and another minute to talk about the following pictures in at least five sentences. Begin your talk with the sentence given.

Li Hua has unhealthy eating habits. He is overweight. One day at school there was a running competition, Li just couldn't keep up with the other kids. He was so unfit. It made him feel sad. He actually likes exercising, but it makes him feel so tired because of his weight. The next time he went to the supermarket he thought to himself that he must stop eating junk food so he only bought healthy food like fruits and vegetables. It's now been six days since then and he hasn't eaten any junk food. He has already lost some weight and is already imagining himself as a fit young man who can exercise like the others in his class.
