2021-22学年高二版第30-31期总第862期III版听力原文
Text 1
M: Are you going to buy any new clothes this month?
W: No, not yet. The end of the season is always the best time to go clothing shopping. I’m waiting for the prices to go down.
W: Well, we didn’t do too badly.
M: No, but I’m a bit disappointed. I thought we’d make $500. Harry made lots more than we did.
Text 3
W: Is anything the matter, Tony?
M: Oh, I’m OK.
W: But why do you look so down?
M: Actually tomorrow is my wife’s birthday, but I am unable to get back to celebrate with her because of my work here.
W: Hello? This is Martha White at 274 Bagley Road. I’m having trouble with my TV, and I need someone to help fix it. This is the third time I’ve called!
M: My apologies, Ms White. We will have someone over tomorrow morning at 8 am.
M: Are you going to the lecture this afternoon?
W: No, I’m afraid I can’t. I have to go to the library and get some information about American history for my paper.
M: Then I have to change my plan.
Text 6
M: It was one of the most interesting exhibitions I’ve ever seen.
W: I couldn’t agree more.
M: Well, those early vehicles didn’t have a roof, so you had to protect yourself. Even the first buses were open-top and, come to think of it, so were the first trains.
W: I suppose you must have enjoyed the exhibition, and I hope I could have gone there with you!
Text 7
M: Hey, Jane. Do you happen to know where the movie theater is downtown? The one near the hospital.
W: Yeah. Why do you want to know?
M: Well, on Monday, I asked Jennifer out on a date for this coming Saturday night.
W: Wow. You’ve really been seeing a lot of her lately. Sounds great. Okay, write down these directions so you don’t get lost.
M: Okay, go ahead.
W: First, drive west down Maple Street, cross the river, and keep going straight until Pine Street.
M: Until Pine Street, right?
W: Right. Then turn left, and the movie theater is the second building on the right. It’s next to the church.
M: Second building on the right. Got it. Thanks a lot.
Text 8
W: Good morning, Steve. Where are you going so early on a Saturday?
M: I’m going to my driver’s education course. Aren’t you taking it?
W: No, I’m not. Should I be?
M: You’d better if you want to have your driver’s license when you turn 16 a few months from now.
W: Is that so? In my state when you’re 16, you just take the written examination and pass the road test. You don’t have to take a special course.
M: Here if you want your license at 16 or before you’re 18 years old, you have to go through a driver’s education course.
W: I’m glad you told me. I was simply going to ask my parents to teach me how to drive. I’ll register for driver’s education right away.
Text 9
M: Susan, er… did I tell you about the party?
W: Party? What party?
M: Well… er… you see, there’s a tradition at the college. When a teacher there buys a house he has to … he has to…
W: Has to have a party? Is that what you’re going to say?
M: Yes, I’m afraid so. So we need some beer and wine and cheese for tomorrow evening.
W: What? Tomorrow evening! Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?
M: Well… I suppose I forgot. I’m terribly sorry. I really am!
W: Oh, well, I suppose if we have to have a party, we have to. How many people did you invite? Only nine or ten, I hope.
M: Er… more than that, actually. I had to invite all the teachers and not just some of them. I had to!
W: What? Are you mad? It isn’t just beer and wine and cheese we need. We need much more than that! Much more!
M: I don’t understand. What do you mean?
W: We need a bigger house!
Text 10
W: Good morning, everyone. I’d like to talk about reading today. There are two things that you should do before reading a passage. One is to consider your reason for reading. Are you reading only for the pleasure? Or are you reading to search for some facts? Your purpose should decide how you read. Secondly, you should think about what the passage will tell you. What do you already know about that topic? This will help you to have a better understanding of the passage you are preparing to read. When you are ready to read, you should begin by skimming the passage, that is, read quickly through the passage. In doing so, you should pay attention to the title and note the key words. While skimming, you should always make a note of the topic sentence of each paragraph. The topic sentence often contains the main idea of the paragraph. Once skimming is done, you should read through the passage in more detail.
