听力原文

Text 1

M: Which flight is Linda on?

W: CJ8816. Has the flight arrived?

M: Yes, it has! Look at the board.

W: Oh, no! It says CG2816 has landed, not CJ8816.

Text 2

W: Listen! Somebody’s playing the piano.

M: Yeah, it sounds nice, doesn’t it? I wish I could play a musical instrument.

W: Don’t you play the violin?

M: No, but my sister does. She’s pretty good at it.

Text 3

M: Hi, Alice. I was wondering if you’d like to see the new comedy Lights Out tonight.

W: Sounds great! When shall we meet?

M: I’ll pick you up at 7:30. The movie starts at 8.

W: Great! I’ll be waiting for you at my house. See you then!

Text 4

M: Sorry, Ms Murphy. I overslept. My alarm didn’t go off this morning.

W: Again?

M: That’s right, even though I did set the alarm last night.

W: Your clock never works. Perhaps you should buy a new one.

M: Well, if it fails again tomorrow, I’ll definitely buy a new one.

W: Maybe by then it’ll be too late.

Text 5

M: What’s the matter?

W: I have a bad cough and a sore throat.

M: How long have you had these symptoms?

W: About three days now. And I’m really tired, too.

M: You’ve got the flu. Take aspirin every four hours and get plenty of rest. Make sure you drink lots of water. Call me if you’re still sick next week.

W: OK, thanks.

Text 6

M: Hi, miss, how are you today? Are you checking in?

W: Yes, I have a room reserved under the name Lindsay Stone.

M: OK, let me check. Oh, great, I found your reservation. You are in room 207.

W: Great!

M: Here are your keys. We have complimentary breakfast between 7 am and 10 am in the lobby. Would you like a hand bringing those bags up to your room?

W: Sure, that would be great.

M: Enjoy your stay with us.

Text 7

W: Steve, you look pale. What happened?

M: I didn’t sleep a wink last night.

W: Is something on your mind? You look so concerned! Maybe I can help you!

M: Well, I’m under a lot of pressure. My boss is very pushy. He assigned me three projects. Now the deadlines are near, and I still haven’t finished all of my projects.

W: Is there anything I can do to help you?

M: Well, I guess no one can help me but myself! For the moment, I just need someone to talk to.

W: Tough times don’t last, but tough people do, remember? I’m more than willing to lend you an ear.

M: Oh, that’s so nice of you! Would you like to grab a cup of coffee?

W: Sure, let’s go.

Text 8

W: Oh, this is really ridiculous, you know? I hate this situation!

M: Jane, calm down please! Don’t be so emotional!

W: You just don’t know how I feel! Everything is getting worse because of my parents.

M: Stop blaming other people. Be patient and think positively.

W: You know what? They forgot to book my ticket for Taylor Swift’s concert tomorrow, and now no tickets are available. Should I still be calm?

M: Well, you don’t need to be angry. Take a deep breath.

W: OK. I’ll take a deep breath. So what do I do next? I’m still upset.

M: Next, think positively.

W: Maybe I don’t need to get the ticket. I can watch it online or wait for the next time.

M: Yes, exactly. You can’t change the situation anyway. If you can’t change the situation, change the way you think. That’s called emotional intelligence.

M: Emotional intelligence? Maybe I need to learn more about it.

Text 9

W: So, what’s your day usually like? You always look so busy.

M: Well, I usually get up around 5 am, work on the computer until 6 am and leave home at 6:40 because I need to catch a bus at 7.

W: And what time do you get off work?

M: Around 5 pm. Then, we eat dinner at 6:30, and then my wife and I read and play with our kids until 8 or so.

W: So, when do you work on your website?

M: Well, my wife and I often watch TV or talk until 10. She then often reads while I work on my site, and I sometimes stay up until the early hours of the morning, but I try to finish everything by 1 or 2 am.

W: And then you get up at 5 am?

M: Well, yeah, but it’s important to live a balanced life. I enjoy what I do, but I have to set aside time for the family and myself.

W: I agree.

M: But I think my wife has the toughest job. She spends her whole day taking care of our family —taking the kids to school, working in the garden, buying groceries, taking the kids to piano lessons. It’s a full-time job, but she enjoys what she does.

W: Well, it sounds like you’re a busy but lucky man.

M: I think so too.

Text 10

W: Good morning, everyone! This morning I’m going to discuss how to take notes effectively. As we all know, note-taking is difficult since it can be difficult to organize spoken language immediately. In addition, spoken language is quickly gone, which makes analysis difficult. So to take notes effectively, a high level of ability in many separate skills is required.

Now let’s discuss these skills in detail. Before taking notes, prepare yourself mentally. A clear sense of purpose on your part will make the speaker’s content more relevant. Predict what is to come, and later evaluate how well you were able to do this. While taking notes, the student has to understand what the lecturer says as he says it. The student cannot stop the lecture in order to look up a new word or check an unfamiliar sentence pattern. So one should try to develop the ability to infer words’ meanings from the context. One won’t always be able to do this successfully. It is often possible to understand much of a lecture by concentrating only on those points which are most important.

But how does the student decide what is important? Probably the most important piece of information in a lecture is the title itself. A title often implies many of the major points that will later be covered in the lecture.

Dear Chris

I am more than delighted to learn that you are obsessed with Chinese sports. My favorite Chinese sport is tai chi.

My affection for tai chi originated from my PE class back in elementary school. I was hooked on its delicate combination of softness and strength. I dedicated myself to a daily drill to sharpen my skills, and constant praise pushed me forward to learn it in depth. I am now a member of my school’s tai chi club, where students of various levels who are passionate about tai chi gather around to practice tai chi together. We have our daily drill after lunch. Tai chi has brought me massive benefits. For example, it offers me an escape from the hustle and bustle of life and immerses my mind in a relaxed state.
I hope my introductions can be of some help. What’s your favorite sport? I am looking forward to your reply.

 Yours

Li Hua

There was a knock on the door. Confused and exhausted, they opened the door slowly, only to find a little kitten before their eyes. Mindy lowered a bit of her body, hesitated for a while and finally decided to feed the starving but adorable little kitten. Mark immediately dug out some snacks from the wet boxes scattered on the floor. Fortunately, the snacks were dry. The couple felt happy to see the kitten enjoy the treats. They were about to put the boxes away when they heard a noise. “Squeak! Squeak!” It was the mouse!
It was coming from the attic. Mindy stood upright, frozen with fright. In that split second, the kitten dashed toward the attic. She quickly spotted the disgusting mouse and pounced (
猛扑) on it without hesitation. She pinned it to the ground before it could flee. Mindy felt greatly relieved and started to mop up the water in the hallway, making the room dry and comfortable. Mark went on to open other boxes, glad to find that the other delicate items were undamaged. Together with their new companion, they waited for the rain to stop. After all, everything would turn out to be fine.
