Task 2
Being generally well-organized has helped me focus in class. With a different book for each subject and a routine system for writing and highlighting my notes, I can make sure I take in all the necessary information. This has also helped train me to pick out the most important information from classes and then include this in my note-taking system.
I overcame my bad study habits by removing all distractions. By placing my desk in a calm and quiet area at home I have made sure no one can disturb me. I also lock away my phone so I can’t be easily contacted by others or distracted by social media. This way, I can fully focus on my studies.
I much prefer to study alone. This allows me to keep my study environment quiet. When studying in a group, there is a tendency for restlessness as a group of people would rather do something fun. This can lead to bad study outcomes. However, sometimes talking to group members can be useful for practicing repeating information learned which helps us secure it in our memories. In these group work settings, strict discipline is required to stay on task.
I prepare for exams by making an intricate study plan well ahead of time. By separating my days out so that I can fully focus on all my subjects, reducing stress before the big exam days. I then try to work hard to read all of the course material I have covered and then transform that information into a piece of work that can help me keep information in my memory. For example. Creating posters with key information for subjects is very useful and placing them in areas where they are easy to see acts as a constant reminder. However, at the end of the day, the best way to study for exams is to practice. This means sitting down with past papers and treating them as if they are the real thing.
Task 3
Failing his mid-term exam, Li Hua reflected on his study habits. It dawned on him that the cause of his bad results was a bad attitude to learning which meant he didn’t fully focus in class. Outside of the classroom, instead of treating schoolwork seriously, he was easily distracted by social media and didn’t sufficiently study. So he could break his cycle of academic failure, he decided to create new positive habits for himself. He studied in a more appropriate environment free of distractions and started taking school seriously. Quickly after this change in behavior, his results dramatically improved and he was forever grateful for the changes he had made.

Day 1 1-3 CAB
Day 2 1-4 CCDD
Day 3 1-4 BCAB
Day 4 1-4 DABC
Day 5 1-5 CFGBD
解析:
Day 1 1-3 CAB
Day 2 1-4 CCDD
Day 3 1-4 BCAB
Day 4 1-4 DABC
2. A。选段中“After breakfast they played a very strange game ...”这段生动地描写了Fagin装成路上行人的样子,他手下的男孩从他身上偷值钱的物品,结合开头男孩们从外面带回来很多偷来的东西可知,这个“游戏”其实就是男孩们在练习偷窃,故选A。
3. B。从Fagin所说“Make them your models. Especially the Dodger. He’ll be a great man
himself, and will make you one too, if you copy him.”以及后文他让Oliver模仿the Dodger从他身上偷手帕可知,Fagin表现出对Oliver很好的样子其实是在欺骗Oliver,目的是为了把他也训练成扒手,故选B。
4. C。从最后一段“Oliver wondered what the connection was between playing at stealing from the old gentleman’s pocket and becoming a great man.”可知,Oliver对Fagin的话感到很困惑,还在把他们的偷窃行为当作游戏,并没有理解Fagin真正的意思,故选C。
