Text 10
M: Several years ago, I had to work in another country so I decided to leave my black cat Larry with my mother. It was hard. I love my cat so much and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. But I had to do it. Plus, my mother had been feeling lonely lately, and I hoped he would change that. Those days were difficult, because Larry was already like a son to me. I asked my mother to share as many of Larry’s videos online as possible. After two years, I was ready to get him back. Before I could do that, I got a call from my mother. She said she had fallen asleep earlier and Larry woke her up. She smelled something burning, and found out that the kitchen was on fire. Oh God, my mom is alive because of Larry. He had been protecting us in his way. He really sees us as his family. I guess this is what love is. It doesn’t matter whether you are a human or a cat. You give love and you get love. And I know that Larry loves us, just like we love him.

第二节
(One possible version)
Not long after that, a car stopped outside Mark’s house and two well-dressed men got out. Mark and his mother wondered who they were. The men introduced themselves as lawyers representing Mr Smith. They explained that Mr Smith wanted to repay Mark and his mother for taking care of him. Mr Smith was a millionaire who had once been homeless. Now that he was rich, he liked to look for deserving people to help. He would disguise himself as a beggar and when he met someone who was kind , he would give them a large sum of money.
Mark and his mother could not believe their good fortune. The sum of money Mr Smith gave to Mark’s mother was enough to make their life more comfortable and give Mark a university education. They treated the beggar well out of compassion; they never expected to be so richly rewarded. The event made them realize the value of treating others with compassion, regardless of their social situation or whether they could return any favors back.
