Text 1

M: The sunshine is so bright today, but the weather report says it’ll be pretty windy this evening.

W: Yep, not like yesterday. It was raining cats and dogs!

Text 2

W: Bad luck! We’ve just missed the school bus at three. We’ll have to wait an hour for the next one.

M: Don’t worry! The school changed the bus schedule last week, and we only have to wait 30 minutes.

Text 3

W: Do you have any suggestions for my essay, professor? I want to get a higher score.

M: Well, you’ve made your point clear, and the language is fine. But the topic is too big. Why don’t you limit it to a more specific area?

Text 4

M: Hurry up, or we’ll be late for class!

W: No worries! Dr Whitehead canceled this class because his plane was delayed. Didn’t you receive his email yesterday?

M: Oh, I haven’t checked my email. My car was broken and I spent the whole day fixing it.

Text 5

M: Excuse me. Can you show me where shelf 47 is? Professor Thompson asks for a book on bus route study there.

M: Well, you need to go downstairs to the basement for shelves 45 to 60. You know, it’s a big library.

M: All right, as long as I don’t need a map. Thank you!

Text 6

W: Colin, can I borrow your suitcase this weekend?

M: Sure. Where are you heading?

W: I was supposed to go to Paris for a weekend trip, but my roommate went back to her hometown yesterday because her mother was ill.

M: Sorry to hear that. So you are visiting Paris alone?

W: No. I’ll go to a conference about African culture instead. Actually, I am writing an essay about South African official languages. You won’t believe it: the official languages there are English and 10 other languages.

M: Really? That’s interesting!

听第7段材料,回答第810题。

Text 7

W: Hey, Ray! When are you available this week?

M: Sunday evening works for me. What’s the matter?

W: Remember our group project? I seriously suggest we should meet and distribute tasks. But I can’t make it on weekend evenings. Can you change your schedule?

M: Sorry, I’m afraid I can’t. I’ve been working with Dr Lee as a volunteer translator, which takes up all my daytime on weekends. How about next Monday or Tuesday?

W: Tuesday will be fine. By the way, I heard Dr Lee is a physicist. Do you need to be good at physics to be his translator?

M: It is not required, but some knowledge about basic physics is quite helpful. So I frequently turn to my physics teacher for help.

W: That’s great. Back to our group project, where shall we meet then? The school cafe or the library?

M: The cafe is too noisy, and no discussion is allowed in the library. How about the little garden behind the teaching building? It’s quiet there.

W: Great. See you on Tuesday!

听第8段材料,回答第1113题。

Text 8

M: Lucy, you look upset. What happened?

W: I can’t sleep well recently. I am pretty excited at midnight, reading novels until three or four o’clock in the morning. I do want to kick the bad habit, especially when I feel sleepy in class. I’m afraid I will fail the exam. But the novels are so attractive, and I just can’t help reading them all night.

M: It’s not a healthy lifestyle. I stayed up all night once and that’s awful!

W: Anyway, it’s so hard to change.

M: Doing physical exercises may help you be less energetic at midnight. Also, you can listen to some relaxing music and sleep earlier.

W: Thanks for your advice. You are such a patient and kind person! That’s why I thought you’d become a doctor or a teacher. I’m still surprised when you decided to study architecture.

M: Well, building houses has been my real field of interest since I was in primary school.

听第9段材料,回答第1416题。

Text 9

W: Hi, Bob! I heard you’re a soccer fan. Did you see the match yesterday?

M: Absolutely! It was the final of the World Cup, and the most exciting match I’ve ever seen!

W: Wow! Who won in the end?

M: Argentina. Although I am not a big fan of the team, I feel proud of them.

W: Is it because Messi, the star player, did a good job?

M: Honestly, no. It’s because everyone tried their best until the last minute. You know, France is a strong team, and the two teams took turns leading the match. But the Argentina players didn’t give up.

W: Amazing! And do you understand all the rules on the field? I find them confusing.

M: I’ve been watching soccer games with my father since I was five. He explained the rules to me when we watched games together. Having a fan explain things to you is more helpful than reading boring descriptions in books or kicking a soccer yourself on the playground. It’s better to see the whole picture to understand some rules.

Text 10

W: Many plants and animals have developed the ability to survive in extreme environmental conditions, such as long periods of heat, cold or dry conditions. We’ve mentioned that the weather in the desert is so tough that only a few species could live there. But how do they survive? In fact, desert creatures can adapt themselves to the environment. One adaptive strategy is to absorb and store a lot of water. Generally, rains are light and short in the desert while plants need fresh water to live. Some plants have developed special root systems to quickly pull in water from the top part of soil, and preserve water by decreasing the surface area. Another strategy is to avoid extreme conditions by living only in spring or fall. Annual plants are good examples of this. An annual plant matures and produces seeds in a single season, so as to avoid extremely hot and cold days and increase its chance of survival. OK, your textbook doesn’t have much about desert plants, so I bring you guys here to the museum. Let me show you some of the desert plants which have adaptive strategies. Here is our first sample.

2022-23学年第37期总第906期高二III版口语直通车参考答案

Task 1

To develop responsible, self-disciplined kids, parents need to promote certain ideas. One of these ideas is that everyone engages and helps in the family, even if someone is not crazy about helping. Another idea is that there can be enjoyment in doing any task. When a task is for a worthy cause (our family can enjoy the house more because I helped clean it), and when parents are cheerful about their kids’ chores, this message can have a big impact.

Task 2

  1. How do you understand responsibility?

Responsibility means understanding your duty to deal with something or someone. It’s understanding that we are always accountable for our actions which always have consequences. Understanding that we all have different responsibilities is an important part of life.

  1. How do you take responsibility for yourself?

Doing little chores every day to make sure that my life flows smoothly is one set of responsibilities. I also make sure to treat everyone I know and meet kindly, as it’s my responsibility as a person to treat others how I wish to be treated. But most importantly, having a general understanding that all of your actions reflect how others judge you as a person means we are all responsible for what we do.

  1. How can being responsible help you?

Being responsible makes sure that other people trust us to do the right thing and look after ourselves and others. Being responsible is a great quality to have and is looked at positively by others. Understanding responsibility will help you complete tasks quicker and more effectively, maintain relationships with others and live a happier life. It is one of the most important qualities a person can have.

Task 3

Li Hua’s father was ill in the hospital and Li Hua shared the responsibility of taking care of him with her mother. Li hua always made sure to support her dad when the doctor came to talk to him. She also made it her responsibility to help feed him when he was incredibly weak. As he gained his strength, she made sure to wheel him round the grounds of the hospital every day. Even when he was discharged, her care didn’t stop. She made sure to help her dad every day until he made a full recovery.
