W: Good morning, Frank.
M: Morning, Sarah.
W: It’s so rainy today. The weather here in London is horrible!
M: Yes. But the weather in Boston was even worse when I lived there.
W: Oh, I didn’t know that you lived in Boston, Frank. How cool!
M: One winter it was so cold and windy that I fell on the ice and broke my leg in three places.
W: Oh no! You’re joking!
M: I wish I was, Sarah, I wish I was. I was never the same after that winter. And my leg is still bad today.
W: Really? I’m sorry to hear that. Poor you.
M: But it’s not all bad. I met my wife in the hospital. She was a doctor who looked at my leg!
W: No way!
M: It was love at first sight!
W: Ah, that’s brilliant!
M: Yes, and we’re still in love 40 years later ...
W: So, in the end, breaking your leg was the best thing that could have happened.
M: Yes, Sarah. I supposed it was.
听第5段材料,回答第7至10题。
Text 10
W: Hello, everyone. Welcome to our program. I’m Jenny Jackson. The weather here in Juarez has become unbearable. With no rain for over a year, the city is suffering from unusually hot weather. Some light showers have been forecast since last month, but all of them have been effective in surrounding areas. Summer has not even started yet, but temperatures have reached 40 degrees centigrade in the past three days. And people have been warned not to go out of their homes – not if you walk on foot, at least – between 11 in the morning and 7 in the evening. Little kids and the elderly are the ones who have suffered the most from this extreme heat wave. They should drink water as much as they can. To help our audience have a better understanding of this extreme weather, we have invited Prof Torres from the University of Mexico to our studio this evening.
