Answers may vary.
Answers may vary. Eg.: We might be punished and learn from our mistakes.
2. The author and Mrs Eiffler: careful and well-behaved; strict
Karen: “Look what I found this morning in storage ... With a grin on her face, Karen ...
“Don’t be such a ‘fraidy cat’ , Janet. No one will ever know,” said Karen ...
→ Karen is a naughty (淘气的) and fun-loving person.
Judy: “Wow! What fun it would be to write on the chalkboard while everyone is outside.” Judy suggested.
“Right. Everyone is outside, so we’re safe. No one will tell on us.” Judy was already drawing a house with sure strokes.
“We’d better get this board cleaned off before Mrs Eiffler comes back,” said Judy ... erasing our handiwork from the board.
→ Judy appears to be a naughty but careful person.
3. Based on the given information, it can be assumed that the narrator and her friends will be caught by Mrs Eiffler and face the punishment for breaking the rules. This could be the next turning point in the story, as they will have to deal with the consequences (后果) and learn from their mistakes.
III.
1-4. Answers may vary.
IV. (One possible version)
My stomach churned(翻腾) and my knees felt weak. What would Mrs Eiffler do to me? “Quick, let’s get some wet paper towels,” said Judy, springing into action. After rubbing (擦), my name still remained. “I think I saw a can of cleanser by the sink in the coat room,” I said as I raced to find it. Time was passing. We rubbed and my name came off all right, but in the process of removing it, we left an abrasion (磨损) on the chalkboard.
The footsteps of Mrs Eiffler came down the hall. We dried the chalkboard as much as we could with more paper towels and fanned (扇风) it with a book. We were just moving back to our desks as the bell rang and the other students began entering the room. The teacher walked in just after. Mrs Eiffler never asked about the abrasion and maybe never noticed it. But I did. Every time I walked past the chalkboard, I remembered. The lesson I learned that day is one I would never forget. “No one will ever know” is never true. Even if no one else found out, I knew. Sometimes feeling guilty is punishment enough.

W: Hello, everyone, welcome to Lingua Marina. In this talk, I’ll share with you a 20-minute daily learning routine. First of all, let’s focus on listening, which is essential for English. So spend 5 minutes listening to anything you want, like a YouTube video or an audiobook. The next 5 minutes of your 20-minute practice should be devoted to speaking. Read out loud. I want to recommend a website called speakandimprove.com. It is a research project by the University of Cambridge. A robot will ask you questions and you can answer them on different topics. Alright, we have 10 minutes left, and 7 minutes will be spent on vocabulary. During your speaking, you’ve probably come across at least 3 to 5 new words. Write them down, google them and create sentences with them and say them out loud. Finally, I want you to spend 3 minutes reflecting on your goals. Remember that English is your instrument, and it will help you achieve your objectives.

第二节(One possible version)
Buddy was leaning far over the windowsill (窗台). All of a sudden, he felt something hot dropped on his face and hair. It burned him as he lay on the bedroom floor. Darkness enveloped (笼罩) him. A few seconds later, Aunt Mildred and the cousins rushed in through the bedroom doorway. Buddy heard Aunt Mildred say something about calling the doctor as they rushed out of the room. Thankfully, in no time the doctor arrived and checked his injury while comforting (安慰) him.
After what seemed like a century, Buddy spoke up softly, “Am I going to be blind, doctor?” No answer. The silence scared Buddy. Then slowly the doctor spoke, “No, you’re not. There’s going to be some swelling (肿胀) and discomfort for a while, but the tar missed your eyes.” Buddy felt relaxed. Lenwood and Billy walked into the bedroom and stood by the bedside. Buddy looked through his swollen eyes and smiled, “It’s OK, Lenwood. I know it was just an accident.”
