听力原文

Text 1

W: Hello. Can I help you?

M: Yes, I would like to know the opening hours of the castle for tomorrow.

W: It opens at 10:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm every day.

Text 2

W: Wow, the final exam is going to cover a lot of material. We should probably start preparing soon.

M: Yeah, we need to figure out the most effective way to study all this stuff in two weeks.

Text 3

W: I’m sorry. But I can’t let you check out these books.

M: What do you mean?

W: Well, the computer shows you have an overdue book since last June.

M: But that’s impossible. I only started attending this school last month.

Text 4

W: Something must have happened to Ray. I’ve never known him to be late for work before.

M: Right, he always walks through the door at exactly 9:00 am, not a minute sooner or a minute later.

Text 5

M: Thanks for coming in today and talking to Radio Oxford about life as a student. I’d just like to close with some quick-fire questions. What makes you stressed?

W: Well, I get very worked up about my studies and very stressed about exams.

Text 6

M: Hey, where have you been?

W: I’ve been to the newly built skate park. It’s such a great place to watch some really talented skateboarders.

M: What got you interested in that?

W: Well, I’m actually working on a college project about extreme sports, and I needed to film some skateboarders in action.

M: Oh, that’s a cool project! Do you plan to go back? I’ve been wanting to visit such a park.

W: Absolutely. I’ve already set up some appointments with a few skateboarders there for next Sunday. Want to join me?

M: That sounds great! I’m in.

Text 7

M: Hello, is that Edinburgh Central Hostel?

W: Yes, it is. Can I help you?

M: Yes, I’m calling to ask if you have a room available from July 24.

W: I’ll just check. How many people? And how many nights?

M: Two people. For three nights, please.

W: Yes, we have a twin room free that night, or a shared four-bed dormitory.

M: We’d prefer a twin room. How much is it?

W: It’s £54 a night. Bedding is included in the price, but towels and breakfast are extra.

M: That sounds fine. Can I book, please?

W: Are you a member of the SYHA, the Scottish Youth Hostel Association?

M: No, I’m not.

W: Then you will have to pay an extra £1 a night per person.

Text 8

M: You must be pretty excited about your trip to Europe. When will you leave?

W: In just three weeks, and I am excited. But there are still a few things I need to do before I go.

M: Like what?

W: Like renewing my passport and figuring out what to do with my flat while I’m gone.

M: You are not going to give it up, are you?

W: No way, I’ll never find another flat like this one. But I don’t like the idea of paying three months’ rent on an empty one, either.

M: I don’t blame you. Perhaps you could rent it to someone else.

W: Yes, but to who?

M: Mmm ... Let me think. Oh, I know a person, a friend of mine, Jim Thomas. He’s coming here to do some research this summer, from June to August.

W: That’s exactly when I’ll be away. It sounds ideal.

M: I’ll call Jim late this week anyway, so I’ll mention it to him then.

W: Well, thanks, Bill. Let me know what happens. That extra money would really come in handy.

Text 9

M: Hi, Sue. Where have you been?

W: Hi, Dan, I was just in the library. I have to hand in my biology paper tomorrow.

M: Tomorrow? Oh, no, I thought it wasn’t due till Monday.

W: Oh, don’t worry. It is due on Monday. But I’m going away for the weekend and won’t be back till Monday night.

M: Oh, where are you going?

W: California. We’re having a family reunion. It is my grandmother’s ninetieth birthday. So all the cousins, aunts and uncles are going. She planned the whole thing herself.

M: Wow. That’s great. How many people will be there?

M: Around 60. My family is big and spread out, but we’re pretty close. So, have you started working on your biology paper?

M: Yeah. I’m doing it on bees and how they’re able to recognize whether another bee is related to them.

W: How can they tell?

M: They use their sense of smell. The sweet bees guard their nests this way: If another bee approaches the nest, the sweet bees determine whether the new bee is familiar. If it is, it’s allowed to enter.

Text 10

M: In American schools, there is a special day called Homecoming Day. Many high schools and colleges with a football team have a Homecoming game. Homecoming Day can be the most important thing of the year except graduation or commencement day. Homecoming is such a great time. There are marching bands, dances, competitions, floats, football and parties. Students plan Homecoming Day for many weeks before the day.

Homecoming Day is a celebration of youth and its energy, promoting cooperation and teaching valuable lessons about coming together to achieve a common goal. Choosing the right Homecoming theme is a crucial decision each year. An ill-chosen theme may fail to generate the excitement that Homecoming should offer. The right theme can also lead to financial benefits for the school. There are many themes that have been used in so many effective ways. It’s important to think outside the box.

Several days before Homecoming, students start to decorate the school. There are signs and banners to wish luck to the team as well as to welcome the students. Many people still attend Homecoming 20 or 30 years after they leave school. During the day, people like to look for teachers that they remember from long ago. Often, they see old friends, and they talk together about those happy and sweet years in school.

You helped me polish my speech draft and improve my pronunciation. Your help in training my presentation skills proved invaluable during the competition. Words fail to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support and encouragement.

Thank you very much, and I wish you all the best.

Yours sincerely,

第二节(One possible version

After two weeks of photo-taking and signature-collecting, it came time to present at the local council meeting. Fortunately, we were well-prepared for what we had to say. Wearing our best suits, we made our case for the community garden. We pointed out not only the historical value of the space, but also the economic and social benefits of the garden. Plus, the dozens of signatures we had collected showed that people still cared about the garden, with some people even agreeing to volunteer and do regular maintenance again. After hearing our presentation, the council members held their own debate on whether to go through with the previously intended plan.

In the end, our efforts paid off. The council finally decided to vote down the measure, thus saving the community garden that we had worked so hard on. My dad and I hugged each other in joy. After weeks and months passed by and as spring turned to summer, the community garden was thriving again, with volunteers working in the garden among countless fresh vegetables and flowers. On one of our visits to the community garden, my dad and I took a picture together. This picture is going to look great in the binder, I thought, right next to my dad’s old photograph.
