听力原文
Text 1
M: Hey, Julia. Look at those desserts! How about baking some cookies today?
W: Hmm ... Yeah, that’s a great idea! While we’re here, let’s pick up some eggs and butter.
M: Great! Let’s meet at the counter.
Text 2
M: Should we take a taxi or a bus to the mall?
W: Let’s take a taxi. It takes a long time to get a bus during rush hour.
M: Isn’t that a bus stop over there?
W: Yes ... Oh! There’s a bus now. Let’s run to catch it.
Text 3
W: What time is that soccer game on? I thought it started at noon.
M: We must have had the wrong time. Oh, well … Soccer’s not my favorite sport, anyway. I
much prefer basketball.
W: Oh, really? I thought your favorite sport was tennis! I’m a big fan of basketball, too.
Text 4
M: What seems to be the problem?
W: Well, I have a bad cough and a sore throat. I also have a headache.
M: Hmm. It sounds like you’ve got the flu. Take an aspirin every four hours and get plenty of
rest. Make sure you drink lots of fluids. Call me if you’re still sick next week.
Text 5
M: What time is it? We’re going to be late!
W: It’s a quarter after seven. We’re on time. Don’t panic.
M: But we have to be at the restaurant in 15 minutes for the surprise party. We’ll never make it there with all this evening traffic.
Text 6
M: Emily, I want to go to the mall to buy some fitness stuff. Is there a fitness store?
W: On the second floor, there is a Li-Ning store, and right next to it, there’s a Nike store.
M: That’s great. I want to buy a waistband at Nike.
W: Nice. When is a good time to go?
M: Probably on weekdays.
W: Ah, so you are not available on weekends?
M: I think weekends might not be the best time. It gets really crowded, making it difficult to move
around.
Text 7
M: Jennifer, are you busy this week?
W: Yes, I am busy moving home. Do you have time to help me?
M: I can help you on Friday.
W: Oh, are you also occupied on Sunday?
M: Yes, on Sunday I have to teach three classes, and then after that, I need to grade papers.
W: I see. Could you give me a ride to the post office on Friday? I almost forgot, I need to submit a form to update my address.
M: Sure, I’ll see you on Friday. What time should we meet?
W: Eleven o’clock would be best.
M: Great, see you then.
Text 8
M: Good morning, Teresa. Let’s talk about the things we enjoy doing in certain situations, especially when we’re stressed due to a heavy workload.
W: When I’m stressed, I tend to clean. I usually tidy up the house or wash the dishes. It helps me feel better because I feel like I’m accomplishing something.
M: That’s great.
W: How about you, Alex?
M: When I exercise, I always feel better. I go jogging outdoors if the weather is nice; and if it’s cold or rainy, I head to the gym.
W: That’s interesting.
M: After about an hour or two of exercise, my stress just melts away.
W: Do you do the same things when you have really low energy?
M: Honestly, if I have low energy, then I sleep.
W: Actually, I have three things I like to listen to when I’m low on energy. If I’m cleaning, I listen to podcasts. When I’m doing sports, I listen to music. And if I’m taking a nap, I listen to an audiobook.
Text 9
W: Hey, Terry, how are you? Tell me what you usually do on weekends.
M: Well, usually in the mornings when I wake up, I feel very relaxed because I know I don’t have a set schedule. To start, I have coffee, then breakfast. Then I may do things alone or hang out with friends. I enjoy visiting museums, being in nature and hiking.
W: Great! Do you plan your weekends in advance, or do you let things unfold naturally?
M: Usually in the morning, I assess my mood and make a plan accordingly. For example, if I wake up feeling like going out and the weather is nice, I start with a picnic and then head to the beach. That’s how I do it.
W: That sounds interesting. Do you usually invite friends over to your place on weekends?
M: Sometimes I host gatherings with my friends. However, I always reserve Sundays for my
family as “Family Day”.
W: I see. What do you do on a typical Family Day?
M: We usually bring some prepared ingredients and then have a hotpot or barbecue together. If we feel like it, we might also enjoy a little champagne and chat together.
Text 10
W: Back in high school, I was always striving to excel in everything – from painting and playing the guitar to even borrowing my sister’s professional camera to get into photography. On top of that, I managed to maintain excellent grades in all subjects. When I entered university, I achieved
my dream of studying medicine. However, my first year of medical school wasn’t the experience
that I expected it to be. Failing my first exam was a harsh dose of reality. It was a profound setback and left me feeling deeply disheartened, questioning whether I had what it took to succeed in medicine. I hated feeling this way and knew I needed to make a change.
First, I practiced memory-enhancing techniques. I covered my room with colorful sticky notes, each containing important information. I even started drawing the human body’s structures on myself to enhance my photographic memory. Second, I changed up my diet and focused more on healthy eating. Third, I started doing yoga as a way of caring for both my body and soul. By incorporating these new habits into my studies and daily life, I successfully emerged as one of the
top students in my faculty.

第二节
As it turned out, my parents were planning a surprise vacation to the US. They had certain cities in mind, but were open to suggestions. When I mentioned Cincinnati, they just looked at each other in confusion. But when I gave more explanation about the most recent conversation between Drew and I, things made more sense to them. Being the more adventurous type, my dad was a fan of the idea, but my mom was worried that she wouldn’t like the local food. When it came closer to the day of our flight, I saw her packing some food and tea in her luggage just in case. So, after a long flight, we finally touched down at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Entering into the baggage claim area, I finally came face-to-face with Drew. He was a handsome young boy with freckles, reddish hair and the biggest smile I’d ever seen. His parents were standing with him, so we exchanged gifts, hugs and handshakes before making a tour of the town. We saw steamboats on the river, ate spaghetti topped with chili at the famous Skyline restaurant, and we even managed to watch a game of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team! We had a fantastic time together, even though it seemed to go by in an instant. Even now, I’m waiting for the day Drew and his family can make their own trip to Beijing.
