Text 1

M: Lynn, how do they look?

W: Oh, Jim! They’re too big. I’ll get you a smaller size. Wait a minute. Here, try these. They will definitely look nice on you.

Text 2

M: We’re looking for someone to go fishing with us on Saturday.

W: Well, you can count me out.

M: Come on, Clara! It will be fun!

W: My parents are coming to stay for the whole weekend.

Text 3

W: Brrr! I thought it was supposed to get warmer today.

M: Yeah, I thought so, too. That’s what the weatherman said.

W: It must be the wind thats making it feel so cold. I’m freezing!

M: Let’s go inside. It’s no fun standing out here, even if the sun is shining.

Text 4

M: Hey, Mary, you’ve got some nice things here.

W: Thanks. I made them. I like to reuse things. It’s better for the environment.

M: Right. Thats great. But where do you get your ideas?

W: Oh, I get inspiration from books and magazines.

Text 5

W: Hi, I’m in Professor Quinn’s political science class. She told us that she’d put some articles on reserve for her class.

M: Yes, those would be at the reserve desk.

W: Do I need a library card to look at them?

M: Just a student ID is OK with them, I think.

Text 6

M: Hi, Gloria. I’m glad you called. I was about to call you.

W: Really? Why?

M: I found out there’s a job opening for an accountant in the company where I work. I thought you might be interested in it.

W: I am. I’ll call tomorrow morning and make an appointment for an interview.

M: You should get in touch with Mr Smith first. He’s in charge of the accounting department.

W: OK, I’ll do that. Thanks for telling me about the job.

M: I’m happy to help. After all, what are friends for?

Text 7

M: It was great to actually meet the person who wrote the books I’ve enjoyed so much. And he asked us a lot about our opinions of his work.

W: I found that as he talked, it made all the references in his stories much clearer. He’s certainly had varied experiences – becoming a doctor, going climbing in the Andes …

M: You’re right. For me, that’s the attraction of the stories. They’ve got such a wide range of settings, and you never get bored.

W: But there are still a couple I havent been able to get into.

M: Well, they all make some sense to me after what he said. Maybe you should go back to those books again.

W: All right. I’ll give them another shot.

Text 8

M: Hi, Emma. Are you enjoying your new Saturday job at the cafe?

W: Yeah, I am.

M: What’s your boss like?

W: Mr Trent? Oh, he’s very cheerful and enthusiastic. He talks a lot about the cafe and his plans for it. He’s good to work for because he’s patient and always tries to help if you don’t understand something.

M: That’s good.

W: And he’s kind, too. Sometimes the customers can be a bit rude, but Mr Trent always defends the people who work at the cafe.

M: He sounds like an ideal boss.

W: Well, yes and no. He’s very easy-going, but that means he can be a bit lazy sometimes – and careless. Like last week he went home early, but he took the keys with him, so we couldn’t lock the cafe up when we finished.

Text 9

W: What’s wrong with your leg?

M: I had a fall while playing football last weekend.

W: I didn’t know you played football. Do you play often?

M: Yeah, we play five-a-side every weekend – just for fun, nothing too serious.

W: You know, I used to play when I was at school.

M: Really? Well, maybe you should get involved. It’s a mixed league, with both men and women playing.

W: Yeah, I think I need to do some sport. I was doing yoga, but I got bored with it, and now I feel very out of shape.

M: Well, why not come next Saturday to check it out? You could sign up for a team as well.

W: It’s been so long since I’ve played though ...

M: Don’t worry about it! There are all kinds of players there – a few good ones, but most people are just there to get some exercise and have a laugh.

W: Okay, I’ll go and have a look.

M: Cool, I can give you a lift, if you’d like.

W: Oh, thanks.

Text 10

W: Do you find it difficult to stay motivated when studying English? You’re not alone. Before sharing some tips on how to improve your motivation for studying English, here are some important ideas about motivation that you should know.

Number one: Motivation isn’t something you can just decide to have. It’s not like an on/off switch inside you. Instead, motivation is a consequence of your life goals, your values, your environment and your lifestyle. You can’t decide to change your motivation directly, but you can change other things in your life that influence your motivation.

Number two: Real motivation is deep motivation. There’s also fake motivation which makes people join a gym and pay for a year’s membership on January the 2nd, and then go once or twice in the whole year. Often, fake motivation comes from outside, and it disappears as quickly as it arrives. Real motivation comes from inside, and it takes time and work to develop.

Number three: It’s hard to develop and maintain motivation because lots of things can kill your motivation: a bad teacher, a busy job, video game addiction and many more. So, you have to look after your motivation carefully. You need to think about many aspects of your life, not just study-related questions.

You’ll learn about these points in more detail over the rest of this lesson. Let’s move on.

Day 1 1-4 CDCB

Day 2 1-4 DCAB

Day 3 1-4 ACBD

Day 4 1-4 CBDD

解析:

Day 1 1-4 CDCB

1. C. 根据第二段“Housing First ... provides homeless people with immediate housing without requiring them to first address issues such as alcohol abuse. The idea is that having a safe and permanent home creates a necessary base for meeting other needs.”

2. D. 根据第四段“Housing First often depends on the private rental market. This dependence makes rent costs too high for government subsidies to cover, while affordable housing remains limited and often poorly maintained”可知,Housing First面临的挑战主要是由于租金过高以及保障性住房不足,导致政府无法为无家可归者提供足够的住房。

3. C. 根据第五段“Some people argue that the tool asks very personal questions about traumas and favors people who rely more heavily on public systems ... This results in a greater burden on public funds and turns access to housing into a limited benefit rather than acknowledging it as a basic human right for all.”

The country has made sure there is a strong supply of secure housing by turning temporary shelters into long-term homes and spending heavily on social housing”可知,芬兰通过投资社会住房,确保有充足的稳定住房供应,从而成功减少了无家可归现象

Day 2 1-4 DCAB

3. A。根据第八段“He argued that mass media turns reality into a never-ending series of packaged moments, pushing us to focus on looks”可知,Debord认为现代社会过于注重表象。

4. B。根据最后一段“Beyond the virtual world, there are moments in life that should be felt and remembered with the soul, not through a phone”可知,《人民日报》建议人们在数字时代应该用心去感受和体验生活。

Day 3 1-4 ACBD

1. A。 The Long March 12 is the largest in width of all Chinese rockets, with a diameter of 3.8 meters”可知,长征12号是中国迄今为止最宽的火箭。

2. C。根据文章第三段“coal-based kerosene has greater power, lower cost, and its raw materials are more abundant”可知,煤基航天煤油的优势在于它具有更强的动力、成本更低,且原料更加丰富。

3. B。根据第四段“The No 2 tower can service over 10 types of carrier rockets ... This is because the tower is not fixed. By using an interface, rockets of different diameters can connect to it”可知,海南航天发射中心的突出之处在于发射塔能够发射多种不同尺寸的火箭。

4. D。根据第五段with the new technology, the rocket will not take off immediately. Instead, there will be a short period where workers can quickly check for problems”可知,牵制释放技术通过让工作人员在点火后有时间检查火箭是否存在问题,来确保火箭发射的安全。

Day 4 1-4 CBDD

1. C。根据第二段中“But in the classroom, I aim to play it neutral, like Shakespeare’s line, ‘I am not what I am,’ a toned-down version of my naturally critical self.”

2. B。根据第三段“I’ve got an engaged audience, keen young minds ready to soak up whatever I share ... but thats not what teaching is about. Even though I strongly believe in certain things, forcing my own ideas on students just doesnt feel right. 中的语境可知,“a breeze”表示让学生接受她的观点是一件轻而易举的事

3. D。根据第四段中“Several of my professors at university loved using the classroom as a way to tell students the ‘correct’ way to think, and the ‘best’ way to view issues. But this is not right.”

4. D。根据倒数第二段“At the core of my teaching philosophy is encouraging individuality; it’s not about me. I push students to carefully explore diverse viewpoints with a critical eye, better preparing them for the intellectual challenges beyond high school. In short, a teacher’s role is to cultivate critical thinking, not to brainwash.”
