听力原文

Text 1

M: Did you say you’re going to take a vacation next week?

W: Yes, my family and I are going to New York for a week. We want to visit the museums and see some plays.

Text 2

W: Have you been to the Picasso exhibition?

M: Yes, last Saturday.

W: What did you think of it?

M: Fascinating! I only wish I could have understood something of it.

Text 3

M: Hello. I’d like to make an appointment with Doctor Wall, please?

W: Yes. Would you like it to be at 2:50 pm on Tuesday?

M: I’m afraid I can’t. What about the morning?

W: Doctor Wall has an opening at 10:30 am this Thursday. Does that work for you?

Text 4

W: What time is that soccer game on? I thought it started at noon.

M: We must have had the wrong time. Oh, well. It doesn’t matter. Anyway, soccer’s not my favorite sport. I much prefer basketball.

W: Oh, really? I thought your favorite sport was tennis!

Text 5

M: I have been told that there are several good restaurants around here. Can you recommend any?

W: There used to be two, but one of them has just been closed down.

M: What about the other one?

W: You can have a try. It is just at the end of this street. I can come with you after work.

Text 6

W: Are you planning to take the photography class next semester?

M: Yes, I heard Professor Adams is really good at teaching the basics. Have you taken his class before?

W: Actually, I did last spring. He really focuses on practical skills.

M: That sounds excellent. Do we need any specific equipment for his class?

W: A DSLR camera is highly recommended, but you can also use a mirrorless camera.

M: Thank you, Lisa. I’ll make sure to get my equipment ready.

W: No problem, James. It’s going to be a fun class!

Text 7

M: Hey, I’ve been thinking a lot about friendship lately.

W: So what do you think makes a good friend?

M: That’s an interesting question, Alice. In my opinion, a good friend is someone who is reliable, trustworthy and always there to support you, no matter what.

W: I agree, but I also think that a good friend should be able to accept you for who you are, with all your strengths and weaknesses.

M: Absolutely. True friends should always be able to be themselves around each other without fear of judgment. It’s also important for friends to have good communication and be honest with each other.

W: Honesty is definitely important. But sometimes, it can be difficult to be honest, especially when you know it might hurt your friend’s feelings.

Text 8

W: Hey, Jim, I’m looking for a place to work out. Actually, I hear you’ve joined a gym. Which one?

M: Yeah, I got my membership card at a gym downtown. It just opened about a month ago. It’s really nice.

W: What’s the name of it?

M: Fitness Club.

W: Good name.

M: Yeah, and it has everything, like free weights of course, and it has all the latest machines.

W: OK. Do they have classes though?

M: They do. They have yoga, kick boxing, spin classes, dancing, so the schedule looks pretty diverse.

W: Oh, that’s good. I do prefer classes than the weights. So how much does it cost per month?

M: It costs about 50 dollars a month, or 500 dollars for one year. But you can get a 20 percent discount if you purchase a two-year membership. It’s kind of reasonable. If you want to have a look at the gym, just give me a call. I’ll take you there.

W: Alright. Thanks.

Text 9

M: Hi, Malisa. Are you on Facebook?

W: Hi, Alex. Yes, I am, but I seldom check it, about once a week, usually on weekends. What about you?

M: Well, I used to be on Facebook a lot before. I checked it every day, posting on my friends’ walls and trying to catch up with everybody. But then I realized I was spending too much time on it.

W: It has really become an issue, hasn’t it? You can lose your sense of reality and live in a virtual world. I’m actually a little bit worried about that.

M: Yeah, that’s right. It’s very funny how the way people communicate with each other has changed in the last few years. Not so long ago, I remember speaking to my friends through email, phone, or in person. But now if you don’t post something on Facebook, it seems that you don’t want your friends to contact you. It’s so weird.

W: Well, the question is whether you are actually more in communication now than you were a few years ago.

Text 10

W: Hello everybody and welcome to this informal meeting about the University Helpline. The Helpline was set up 10 years ago by the Students’ Union. It aims to provide new students with a service they can use if they need information about some practical areas of student life.

Also, some academic issues may arise while you are in the early stages of your course. In this case, we may be able to give you information on your essay deadlines or show you how to use the library. There are all kinds of questions you may need a quick answer to so please use the Helpline for that purpose.

If you want to visit our office, please bear in mind we are open between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm on weekdays and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. If you want to make an appointment, you can call at the office in person. Well, enough from me. Any questions?
