Text 1

M: I stopped drinking coffee last week. I didn’t have a lot of it anyway.

W: Did you stop because you don’t like the taste?

M: No. It was because I was sleeping badly.

Text 2

M: Lucy, go on and tell me what happened then. I am curious about the ending of the film that just came out.

W: Nothing exciting. At the end of the film the little girl was saved by a young man. It’s the same as the book.

Text 3

W: Oh, it’s broken. Jack is not going to be happy when he sees this. It’s his favorite glass. He’ll tell Mom.

M: Please, Kathy, can I borrow $10? I’ll buy him a new one. And I’ll clean up your room.

Text 4

W: Can I help you find something, sir?

M: Yes. I need a lock for my bike. I’m a photographer, and I often have to leave my bike for long periods of time to go take pictures.

Text 5

W: How terrible the weather is today! I much prefer hot, sunny days so I can go outside.

M: I actually quite like this type of rainy day. It’s cool. And we can stay in and relax.

Text 6

M: What’s the matter?

W: I’ve been having headaches.

M: How long have they been bothering you?

W: They started about three weeks ago. Oh, no, they must have been going on for about a month. At first, I thought I had the flu because I had a runny nose and a temperature.

M: I see. Do the headaches come on at a particular time?

W: They are usually worse in the morning, especially during the past two weeks. But they get better in the afternoon.

M: OK. Now let me check if there is anything seriously wrong.

Text 7

M: Hello, Sarah. Good to see you again. Welcome to the company.

W: Thank you. I know you asked me to come in a little later on my first day, but what time do I normally start work?

M: Well, the office opens at 8:30 am and the team starts with a meeting at 9 o’clock.

W: What do we do after the meeting?

M: We take a break at 10:30. My assistant Mia makes coffee for us all. Then it’s time to call customers and make sales.

W: That sounds good.

Text 8

W: Hi, Michael. You look so handsome in that red coat!

M: Thank you. I’m very glad to hear that.

W: I really like your coat. Where did you get it?

M: Well, I got it from the local department store where they have everything: shirts, skirts, jackets, coats … you name it.

W: Oh, I know the store. But the clothes there are too expensive. How much did the coat cost you?

M: Not as much as the salesman asked for it. He wanted $80.

W: So, how much did you pay in the end?

M: I got him to bring down the price to $55.

W: Wow! That’s pretty smart! In fact, I have been wanting to buy a cool hat in that store for a long time. It’s $40, which is kind of expensive. Can you help me get the price down?

M: I’m not sure, but I can try.

Text 9

M: Did you hear about the plan to build an amusement park at Discovery Bay?

W: No. Tell me about it.

M: Look. It’s all here in the newspaper.

W: Oh, no, this will really destroy the environment. The cars, the crowds ... It’s hard to imagine what will happen in the future.

M: Sure, there’ll be a bit more pollution and crowds, but tourists will be good for the economy. Don’t you think so?

W: I guess so, but Discovery Bay is such a peaceful place right now, and lots of families with small kids live there. I really like how it looks now.

M: Well, the locals should enjoy the new place as much as the tourists. Right now there are no interesting places here.

W: I don’t know. And it says here that they’re going to fill part of the bay. What will happen to the fish living there? They’ll be killed!

M: Well, you can’t stop progress.

W: That’s probably true, but I’ll still voice my concerns to the government on the internet.

Text 10

W: Samos is a Greek Island in the eastern Aegean Sea. From Athens, there are three boats that go there every week in the summer, two each week in the spring and fall, and one each week in the winter. The weather there is sunny and warm for most of the year. It rains a lot from November to January. This helps the island to stay green. Many tourists visit the island mainly from April through August. Mountain climbers from all over the world come to Samos to climb the forest-covered mountains. The villages up in the mountains have been well kept, and visitors can experience the simple life there. There are many beaches with pure white sand and calm, clear water in the south of the island. They are perfect for visitors to relax. There are many busy places on the eastern side of the island where people spend their holidays. They offer different types of activities and play plenty of loud music, so visitors can have parties and enjoy their time there.

Day 1 1-4 DBCC

Day 2 1-4 DACD

Day 3 1-4 DCAB

Day 4 1-4 DBBA

Day 5 1-5 BGAEC

解析:

Day 1 1-4 DBCC

1. D。根据第2“Curious, she sent in her resume and got the job”可知,李阳阳最初是出于对招聘广告的好奇而投递简历,随后获得了古籍修复的工作。

2. B。由第5“Some are so damp that pages stick together, and even the first step flattening the pages can take a whole day. One wrong move could tear the page”可知,书砖的核心挑战在于潮湿导致的页粘连问题,分离粘连页面的过程需要极度谨慎。

3. C。根据第7段李阳阳的表述“Before starting a restoration, you must ask yourself: Can my skills handle this?”

4. C。文章结尾明确提到李阳阳的初衷:“I hope ancient books can become a more common part of everyday life, so more people can experience them”

Day 2 1-4 DACD

2. A。从文中第五段“I am grateful I could spend all my time with Yuanbao. I have no regrets”可知答案为A

3. C。从文中倒数第二段“I lost my soulmate dog three months ago. ”失去了心爱的狗,一定会非常伤心,因此可猜测此句意:为身体和精神上的痛苦是“残酷的”,故答案为C

Day 4 1-4 DBBA

1. D。根据第三段“‘My goal isn’t to make him a generative AI wizard,’ White said. ‘It’s to give him a foundation for using AI to be creative, build, explore perspectives and improve his learning.’”

2. B。根据第五段“Nearly a third of parents say AI tools such as ChatGPT should be banned in schools to avoid cheating”可知,2023Ipsos调查显示,一些家长建议在学校禁止使用AI的主要原因是担心学生会利用AI进行学术不端行为(作弊)。

4. A。根据最后一段“White also emphasizes responsible AI use with his son. Without guidance, children might use ChatGPT improperly, which may lead to ‘intellectual laziness’”可知,Jules White强调的是要指导孩子避免不当使用AI工具
