1. People often start smoking for different reasons. Some try it because of stress or because they see others doing it and want to fit in. Others start because they think it looks cool or because they are curious. Once people start smoking, the nicotine (尼古丁) in cigarettes can make it addictive (上瘾的). This means their bodies start to really want it, making it hard to stop even when they know it is bad for them.
2. It could be possible if we teach everyone about the dangers of smoking, make tobacco products less available and support those who want to quit. It will take time and effort, but with the right steps, more people may choose not to smoke.
