Dear Peter,
It's great to hear that you're interested in learning about deepfake technology. I’d like to share some of my thoughts on it.
To put it simply, deepfake technology uses artificial intelligence to create highly realistic but fake videos or audio. For example, it can make it look like someone is saying or doing something they never actually did.
Although the technology itself is impressive, it has already caused serious problems. Some people use it to spread false information or create fake videos to make money quickly. There are also scams that use deepfakes, like fake audio or videos that trick others. What’s worse, it may violate people’s rights, such as their image rights.
In my opinion, we need strict rules to stop the misuse of deepfake technology. We should also learn how to tell what’s real from what’s fake.
What do you think about all this? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Best regards,
Li Hua

Paras 1-2 → C; Para 3 → E; Paras 4-5 → A; Para 6 → B; Para 7 → D
Day 5 1-5 GEDFA
Day 2 1-4 CDCD
1. C。文章第二段中提到,“performative reading”是指人们将书籍视为“a symbol of hotness”或“something to be worn with ‘a good outfit’”,即把书籍当作一种时尚符号或展示品,而不是专注于阅读本身。
4. D。最后一段Jafei Pollitt提到,即使假装阅读也能鼓励人们开始阅读,并引用“fake it until you make it”的说法。
Day 3 1-3 BCA
1. B。根据第四段“...but lasers can carry much more data”可知,激光比无线电波能更高效地传输数据。
2. C。根据第5段“Lasers are also safer because their thin beams leave smaller “footprints”. So, there is less chance of the signal being found and cut off by others ...”
3. A。根据第7段“So far, the technology has yet to be widely used. But the market is growing fast and might reach 29.52 billion dollars (about 210.19 billion yuan) by 2032 ...”
Day 4 1-4 BADB
1. B。根据原文第二段 “My dad built it with great care” 以及第三段 “a giant freezer usually filled with a side of beef... homemade vegetable bins for root vegetables for the long winter” 可知,“冷藏室” 是父亲精心建造的,里面储存着大量肉类和过冬蔬菜,主要象征着父亲对家庭生活的细心准备。
2. A。根据原文第六段 “this whole ‘food’ obsession was because my dad had known childhood hunger. He’d been raised in utter poverty... My dad was determined that his own family would never face the hunger he had” 可知,父亲对食物的极度关注,源于他童年经历的饥饿与贫困带来的食物不安全感,他不想让自己的家人重蹈覆辙。
3. D。根据原文最后一段 “Reflecting on this, I see the apple hasn’t fallen far from the family tree. In fact, it has probably sprouted a few roots” 以及前文提到自己如今八月也会在冰箱里塞满新鲜食材可知,作者意识到自己延续了父亲重视储备食物的习惯,体现出父母的影响会延续到成年。
Day 5 1-5 GEDFA
1. G。空1位于“Be honest about your mistakes”部分。前文强调承认错误和道歉的重要性,如“If you need to apologize to someone for it, do so.”
2. E。空2位于“Turn your mistakes into lessons”部分。前文描述了面对错误时可能产生的负面情绪,如“You might feel embarrassed or ashamed.”
后文直接提示要问自己具体问题,如“Ask yourself what you were trying to do, what went wrong and why.”
前文提到“reach out to friends, team members or coworkers to help find your mistake and suggest how to improve”,强调寻求外部帮助。F解释了他人帮助的价值,即他们可以分享自身错误经验,这与后文“A partner who checks in with you”形成呼应,逻辑上连贯。
5. A。 后文强调“Finding the knowledge, skills or tools needed to avoid repeating your mistake is the key to improvement”,核心是从错误中学习以避免重复。
