1. D 文章提到“Shakespeare used all these big and difficult words and phrases to create characters, and you had to know what he meant -- and own it -- in order to understand how to play the character.”
Now, whether he was reading for history class or social studies, he used the same skills he had learned from reading Shakespeare. He said he tried to get into the heads of the people he was reading about, and he imagined himself as them.
On that day, many Londoners rushed to a bookstore to buy a book that had just been published. The first printing of 1,250 copies sold out on the first day.
Like many new ideas, the theory of evolution was not immediately accepted by everyone,
Everyone says he’s the meanest man in town. Kids knew not to go into his yard to pick an apple, because old Dawson, they said, would come after you with his gun.
She said he always offers her an apple now, and is always very kind.
It’s easy to get caught up in everyday life that we forget how simple it can be to bring cheer to ourselves and others.

Topic eight: Weather
M: Jenny and her classmates are going to have a picnic this afternoon because reports said that the weather will be much better in the afternoon.
Text 2W: The temperature will be above 30 degrees centigrade in the morning, and we’re sure it will be a very hot day. Put on cool clothes and drink more water.
Text 3M: From June to September in the United States, temperatures are likely to range from 21 to 35 degrees centigrade, and in many areas there is a lot of rain.
Text 4W: Sandstorms are common natural disasters. They usually happen in deserts. Strong winds blow a huge amount of sand into the air. Sandstorms are so strong that they can blow you 1 to 1.5 meters away from where you are standing. Unlike some other disasters, sandstorms come with a warning. If the clouds have a dark brown color, it means there may be a sandstorm.
Xinjiang is one of the areas where sandstorms happen most often. It is in northwestern China, with mountains on four sides. It has a dry climate and vast deserts. The Tianshan Mountains, which are in the middle, cut the land into two large basins. Both basins have deserts in their centers where sandstorms begin.
