高二版
Day 1
1—4 DCBA
Day 2
1—4 DCAC
1. D。由第一段最后一句以及第五段的“NBA’s best teams tend to be those who touch each other more”可知,本文主要讲touching在篮球比赛中的重要作用。
2. C。由第六段“Henry Abbott, a longtime NBA observer and ESPN TrueHoop blogger, isn’t surprised with the findings.”
Day 3
1—4 CCDA
Day 4
1—4 CABC
2. A。篇章结构题,第一段中提出了 to write the word “shmily” in a surprise place for the other to find这一论点, 第二段的例子阐述这一论点。
Day 5
1—5 DBCAC 6—10 DBCDA 11—15 CBABC 16—20 DABCB
still 仍然。
6. D。从下文的 “I want to hear something new”可以看出,老顾客厌倦了每天听钢琴演奏者演奏,be tired of 厌烦,厌倦。
8. C。从下文的 “ in order to bring some money home that night”可知,如果钢琴演奏者不唱歌,他当晚就赚不到钱,所以选get paid(获得薪水)。
14. B。go on to do 继续干另一件事,指他继在酒吧唱歌之后成为美国最著名的歌手之一;go up 上涨,上升;go off 爆炸,(闹钟)响; go away 走开。
16. D。由下文“but it may be better than you think!”
18. B。possess(拥有)=have,与上文中“have skills and talents” 相对应。
20. B。rather=instead,

M: Small talk is a good way to make friends. If you travel to other countries or have friends from abroad, do you know how to use small talk to make conversation?
In Britain, the best topic is the weather. British weather changes all the time. You can start chatting by saying “It’s a lovely day today, isn’t it?”
Besides weather, it’s good to talk about gardens with British people. You could say, “Those roses look really beautiful, don’t they?” English people love their pets. So it’s also nice to start with “What a lovely dog! What is his name?”
In America, people like to talk about sports, such as American football and basketball. Americans also talk about clothes. So you might say, “That’s a nice shirt! Where did you get it?” Weather is a safe topic there, too.
There are also a lot of topics to avoid during small talk.
Don’t ask people “How old are you?” Never ask: “How much money do you make?” It makes people uncomfortable.

M: Why are there pictures of dragons everywhere here in China?
W: It’s because the dragon is our national symbol.
M: Your national symbol! But everyone knows that dragons are scary monsters that blow fire out of their mouths and can kill people. What is your country trying to say by using the dragon as a national symbol? Is China trying to scare other countries?
W: Chinese people don’t see the dragon as a monster. For thousands of years, our culture has thought of the dragon as a wise, strong creature that brings good luck. But now that China is becoming more international, some people think we should pay attention to the Westerners’ idea of dragons and consider changing our national symbol.
M: It’s true that China is a modern country now, so why stick with an old symbol that might give other countries the wrong idea? Why not choose a new, modern symbol that fits better with the changing times? Dragons aren’t even real animals!
W: Well, an online survey by Sina.com showed that 90 percent of Chinese people think we should keep the dragon. We should be proud of our history and traditions. Instead of worrying that other countries will get the wrong idea, we should encourage them to try understanding our own country better.
M: You have a good point. Before today, I didn’t know that many people consider the dragon wise and kind. I guessed everyone thought dragons were mean and scary. From now on, I’ll think of the Chinese dragon differently.
