Barbecue refers to meat that is cooked for a long time (sometimes as long as 24 hours) over low heat on a wood fire.
This builds a stronger community because nothing brings people together faster than delicious food.
Are children more likely to survive plane crashes than adults,可知作者举例的目的是为了引出文章的所要讨论的问题-儿童是不是在空难中比成人更容易幸存下来。
Professor Ed Galea at the University of Greenwich, suggested children would be cocooned (被紧紧包住) within their seat and therefore might be less likely to receive injuries.
A survey conducted by researchers at the University of Greenwich found that what matters most is how close you are to an exit row.
根据全文主旨可以看出,“paint in your mind a picture of bright and happy expectations”应该有利于目标的实现 ,所以conducive的意思应该是“有助于”。
5. C。下句中he didn’t make eye contact可判断。
6. D。
8. C。本段最后的it’s hard not to smile. 和后文的the jailer smiled back都是线索。
19. D。Connection类似于communication。
20. A。

W: When I started middle school in New York, I never cared about rubbish. I didn't care where it went or who cleaned it up.
One day two years ago, though, I started caring about it deeply.
I was walking in school when I saw my classmates throwing their rubbish onto the floor.
They threw paper, sweet wrappers and cola bottles. It turned the floor into a land of rubbish!
I decided to do something about it. I started spending hours picking up the rubbish. I gave anything useful I found to my teachers.
I became known as the "rubbish picker".
I decided to make a recycling plan for my school and give it to the headmaster.
He loved the plan and said I could put a rubbish box in every classroom.
When these boxes became full, I would take them to the rubbish dump. There, workers would recycle it for me.
My plan has done a lot for the school. The school gets money for every bottle that it recycles.
The plan has also done a lot for the Earth. Students and teachers are now dropping less litter and have learned to use less paper.
Also, every time my school recycles one ton of paper, 17 trees are saved!
I have more plans. I will be seeing the headmaster again soon!
