听力原文

Dialogue 1

W: What time does the play start?

M: At 10:30. If we leave by nine o’clock, we should be able to get there half an hour before the play.

Dialogue 2

W: Excuse me, visiting hours are over. It’s time for you to leave.

M: I’m sorry, I didn’t know the time or I would have left earlier.

Dialogue 3

W: Sir, can I come in now?

M: Sorry. I am afraid that you have to wait half an hour - our business hours are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Dialogue 4

W: So how long have you been living in London?

M: A couple of years. How long have you been working here?

W: Only a few months. I moved down here for the job. There is no work where I come from.

M: Where do you come from then?

W: I come from a small village called Arnside near Lancaster. There is nothing to do there,

so I moved to London.

M: Do you enjoy working in this restaurant?

W: Very much.

Dialogue 5

M: What did I do wrong? Did I take a wrong turn?

W: I’m not sure. Maybe you turned left when you should have turned right.

M: Well, now the main problem is how to get back onto the main highway.

W: Did you bring the map with you when we started off?

M: No, I didn’t. I thought you had the map.

W: Well, I guess we have to stop and ask a policeman.

Monologue

What happened to me that day was just unbelievable. The first thing to go wrong was that all the

parking spaces were taken, so I had to park on the grass and hope that I would not get a parking ticket.

When I got to the Admissions Office, there was already a long line of students waiting. By the time it

was my turn, two of the courses I needed were filled, and I had to go back to my advisor and make out

a whole new timetable. Although I did sign up for all my courses, I missed lunch. The next thing to go

wrong was that the bookstore had sold out of one of the textbooks required. As I was leaving I wondered

what else could possibly happen, then I saw a policeman standing beside my car and writing out a ticket.
