While promoting her new film Night Peacock (《夜孔雀》) in Guangzhou on May 19, Liu Yifei got spooked by an over-enthusiastic fan. The man in a red checked shirt ran onto the stage where Liu was speaking and *frantically embraced the actress. He then *tackled her to the ground. Fortunately, she did not *sustain any injuries apart from a few *bruises on her knees. The man has been arrested, pending an investigation. According to a statement released afterward by the film’s production team, the man claimed to be Liu’s long-time fan and wished to befriend her.
