American tech company Yahoo is reported to have built special software that automatically scans its hundreds of millions of users’ emails in order to *comply with a directive from the US intelligence community, according to Reuters. The software hunts for a particular “character string” and turns over messages where it finds a match to the government. This mass email surveillance has reignited people’s concerns about privacy.
