China’s most-wanted fugitive, Yang Xiuzhu, who had been on the run for 13 years, returned to China from the US on Nov 16 and turned herself in to the authorities, reported Xinhua News Agency. Yang, 70, was former deputy director of the construction bureau in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. She fled China in April 2003 after inspectors began investigating her involvement in *embezzlement. Her return was considered an important result for Sino-US anti-corruption cooperation.
