Guokao, or China’s national civil service exam, took place on Nov 27. Many participants complained after the exam that some questions related to high technology, such as the Yutu lunar rover and Long March-1 rocket, were really nerve-wracking. This year, 1.48 million people were qualified to take the exam. It marked an increase of 90,000 compared to last year, despite the number of positions offered – 27,000 – remaining almost the same.
