You might not be familiar with his name, but if someone mentions the emperor in the TV drama The Glory of Tang Dynasty (《大唐荣耀》), you may suddenly see the light. Ren Jialun, the 28-year-old Chinese actor, is taking part in the new season of Beijing TV’s singing competition show King Cross (《跨界歌王》). After starting on April 15, the weekly program has been providing a platform for celebrities whose first talent isn’t behind a microphone to cross over to the music industry. When asked why he chose King Cross as his variety show debut (首次登台), he told Sina Entertainment: “I used to practice singing and dancing, so I hope I can bring out the best on stage.”
