It’s just a postcard with words written on it, but it has become one of the most famous items in the world. These are no ordinary words. British author J.K. Rowling wrote a brief prequel (前传) to the Harry Potter series on the postcard. It was made for and sold at a charity auction (慈善拍卖) for literacy causes in 2008. UK police said the card was stolen along with jewelry from a house in Birmingham, England last month. According to the BBC, Rowling asked people on social media on May 12 not to buy the postcard if they came across it. “Please don’t buy this if you’re offered it. The owner supported writers’ freedoms by bidding for it,” she wrote.
