Last year, when Canadian singer Shawn Mendes was touring Europe in May, a terrorist (恐怖分子) attacked Manchester, UK. This inspired him to write a song about youthfulness and express his determination to fight against violence (暴力). He believes that youth cannot be taken away by anyone. The song, called Youth, was released on May 3 this year and was included on his self-titled album. Mendes invited US singer Khalid to sing the song. When he was writing the song, he said to Khalid, “When we get together, we have to make a statement (声明), we have to move, we have to write about what’s going on in life and how the youth are feeling.”
