On Dec 3, the US House of Representatives passed the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019. It is another US attempt to interfere (干涉) in China’s internal affairs. The US has wantonly twisted (肆意歪曲) the human rights situation in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and attacked the Xinjiang authorities that have been successfully combating (打击) terrorism and extremism (极端主义). Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said what Xinjiang faces is not about ethnicity (民族), religion or human rights. Rather, it is about fighting violence, terrorism and separatism. The Act reveals the US’ double standards on counter-terrorism and the intention to maintain its global hegemony (霸权) in the name of protecting human rights.
