Keeping watch: On Aug 7, warplanes of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) worked together during training (训练) exercises around the Taiwan Island.Senior Colonel (陆军大校) Shi Yi, spokesperson of the theater command, said on Aug 10 that the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese PLA will do regular patrols (常态警巡) in the Taiwan region (地区). These exercises in the sea and air around the Taiwan Island showed the ability (力量) of the theater command, he said. The command began training around Taiwan on Aug 2, after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the island.
