Olympic champion Li Bingjie continued her great performance at the Chinese National Championships. On Oct 28, the 20-year-old clocked an Asian record of 15 min 41.80 sec in the women’s 1,500m freestyle final, beating the previous mark of 15:44.84 set by Waka Kobori of Japan in 2021. According to CGTN, Li has been a shadow of her former self after failing to advance into the finals in both the 400m and 1,500m freestyle at the 19th FINA World Championships in Budapest earlier this year. But with the new record under her belt, Li eventually proved she is still one of the best swimmers in the world, noted CGTN.
