After dedicating himself to acting for seven decades, Chinese American actor James Hong won a Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) in February for his performance in sci-fi comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once (《瞬息全宇宙》) . During his acceptance speech, the 94-year-old said that when he first began his career in Hollywood, many leading Asian roles were played by white people because the producers thought the Asians were not good enough. To show their stereotypical image of the Asians, however, these white-skin actors need to tape up their eyes. But now he wants to tell these producers proudly that Asian actors can have box office success as well. His speech got a standing ovation at SAG Awards.
