People in Hezhang county, Guizhou, danced and sang around fire during the Festival of the Yi People (彝族火把节) on Aug 12. The festival is traditionally celebrated by the Yi ethnic group (民族) across Southwest China. During this festival, people light torches to show their worship (崇拜) of fire. It’s believed that fire can drive away evil (邪恶) and protect the growth of crops.
