The London Book Fair, one of the world’s largest publishing trade fairs, was held from March 12 to 14. Across three days, the book fair attracted more than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world to participate. Under the “Reading China” theme, the Chinese section garnered significant attention, showcasing over 3,200 books from approximately 50 Chinese publishing houses. This provided an insightful window into Chinese culture for international readers. Exhibitors harnessed artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the metaverse to demonstrate the creative transformation and innovative evolution of traditional Chinese culture. Wang Xubin, president of Zhejiang Ancient Books Publishing House, emphasized the importance of international collaboration among publishers. Collaborative efforts in international publishing not only advance academic research, but also enhance the cultural interactions between China and the the rest of the world, stated Wang.
