Brought back to life: On March 28, a reconstructed image of Emperor Wu, also known as Yuwen Yong, of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (557-581), was unveiled in Xi’an. The research team managed to decode key features of the emperor after spending six years studying DNA found in his skull and bones. The tomb of the emperor was discovered in 1993 in Xianyang, Shaanxi. By applying facial reconstruction technology and genomic (基因组的) data, the results show that Yuwen Yong had black hair, yellowish-colored skin and brown eyes, which fit the typical profile of East Asians.
