Recently, our school held a special exhibition. The “ancient artifacts (古代文物)” at the exhibition are all made by students. I made a gold buyao. It looks like an antler (鹿角) with a horse head. Dating back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420-581), it’s a women’s headwear made of gold. To make it, I cut out 10 leaves, two heads and three antlers from pieces of copper sheet (铜板) and used iron wires (铁丝) and glue to put them together. The hardest part was cutting the copper sheet. The copper I bought was thicker than it should be. Instead of using scissors, I ended up using a knife. It must have been hard for ancient people to make these kinds of ornaments (装饰品).
