On May 13, EDUCAUSE, an American nonprofit association dedicated to advancing the strategic use of technology and data to enhance higher education, released the 2024 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report: Teaching and Learning Edition. This report explores key trends, technologies, and future scenarios in higher education, outlining several social, technological, and economic trends shaping the future of education. Technologically, AI and learning analytics are transforming education, while cybersecurity and digital divides remain critical issues. The report identifies six critical technological aspects expected to significantly impact teaching and learning: AI-enabled tools, AI fluency, equitable learning, data privacy, misinformation navigation, and mental health support. These technologies are anticipated to require institutions to adapt their strategies and curricula.
