The event, now upgraded to a 12-day tournament, features various other big names, such as World No 1 and freshly-crowned US Open champion Jannik Sinner and Spanish sensation (引起轰动的人) Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic, a four-time winner in Shanghai, is eager to return. “I miss my Chinese fans. I miss playing on Chinese soil,” Djokovic said in a video message. China’s rising stars, Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng, are also set to compete, boosting local interest. With 27 nations to be represented, the tournament promises exciting matches, running from Sept 30 to Oct 13.
