On Dec 4, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organiza-tion (UNESCO) officially announced its recognition of the Spring Festival, the social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of their traditional new year,as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
