Coffee beans (咖啡豆) are now more expensive than at any other point this year, said the BBC. On Dec 10, the price of Arabica beans, the most common kind, reached $3.44 per pound. That is about 55 yuan a kilogram. It marked a rise (上涨) of over 80 percent this year. The main driver is serious drought (干旱) and heavy rains in Brazil and Vietnam. The two countries grow the most coffee beans in the world. With the bad weather, they may not produce as many coffee beans next year as before. When that happens, coffee in supermarkets may soon start to cost more. Many coffee businesses (商家) are already thinking about raising prices in early 2025.
