On the same day, the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a statement calling for a just, sustainable (可持续的) and comprehensive peace. The Ukraine conflict began on Feb 24, 2022. According to the UN, by December 2024, at least 12,456 civilians had been killed in Ukraine. Among them were 669 children. Another 28,382 adults and 1,833 children were injured. On Feb 24, the UN passed a resolution calling for “a swift (迅速的) end to the conflict” between Ukraine and Russia and urging “a lasting peace”.
