UK scientists have found a way to use artificial intelligence (AI) to predict a person’s risk of dementia (痴呆). The scientists collected nearly a million eye scans from opticians (验光师) in Scotland, making it the largest dataset of its kind. AI helps them quickly look at these scans to find important differences in the shapes and sizes of blood vessels (血管) in the eye. It particularly measures how much they twist (扭曲), which gives clues about brain health. Scientists then link the data with the patient’s treatment history to analyze the situation. They hope to find what could indicate a person’s risk of developing dementia, as well as give a broad picture of brain health.
